REDTI is located in our own modern building in the Inkster Industrial Park
area of Winnipeg. Our classrooms and instructional labs are furnished with the
most recent teaching aids and 'hands-on' demonstration equipment. Recent model
tractors and a full variety of trailers provide for all aspects of in-cab
training under controlled conditions on our adjacent driving ranges, that extend
over three acres.
Our
teaching program consists of instruction over a thirteen week period with
courses starting at various times throughout the year. Class size is
approximately 24 students to ensure that each benefits fully from individual
attention and instruction.
Our classes are based upon standards common to both the United States and
Canada which means our graduates are capable of international operations.
The teaching program consists of four basic components; Classroom,
Laboratory, Range and Street.
In the Classroom, students are instructed and tested on the full scope of
subjects related to professional driving , which range from operating safety and
hazard perception to communications, regulations and travel and freight
management.
Our Lab courses provide students a "hands-on" understanding of
truck equipment and components as well as detailed instructions in maintenance
procedures and requirements.
The
Range is a controlled driving area that is used to simulate the conditions and
needs for a variety of maneuvers. Here, students receive their vehicle
orientation training, are instructed in operations handling and acquire
behind-the-wheel experience and practice.
The
Street portion of our course extends proficiency development to truck routes
within cities and to nearby major secondary highways.
The basic goal of REDTI teaching is to graduate entry level tractor/trailer
drivers to the transportation industry by providing our students with the
professional competence that employers most require: performance capability,
thorough knowledge, effective skills and a positive, productive attitude.
